About

THE PROFESSIONAL BREAKDOWN

I am an experienced retail manager, bridal stylist, and brand marketer who is looking for a refreshing career challenge that will expand and enhance my repertoire of skills in the sales and retail fields. With a passion for business, fashion, and all things bridal, I have both the skill set and professional background necessary to dive deeper into the retail world. As an upbeat, self-motivated team player with excellent communication, I envision an exciting future in the industry.

WHAT YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW

1) I was born on a Monday. I was named after my dad's pay day (that's the honest-to-goodness truth. I couldn't make that up).

2) Yep, I coulda been a lawyer - no, wait, I AM a lawyer - but the idea of writing petitions and briefs all day made me want to cry endless rivers of tears.

3) I ended up in the bridal fashion industry by accident (again, #truth), but I've LOVED it. I immersed myself in every facet of the industry that I could. I started out hustling on the sales floor and have moved through roles in management, marketing, buying, consulting, and more. I’ve had the pleasure of working both the retail and manufacturing sides of the industry. I’ve traveled across the country and over the Atlantic in search of the perfect dress.

4) Beyond bridal, I've lived and breathed retail for most of my career. I've done stints at Starbucks, Express, & Target - each one giving me more perspective on why we buy and how to serve (because great customer experiences are what really drive things, right?).

5) {Last one! Promise!} When I’m not immersed in lace and tulle, or refolding piles of tees, I’m probably enjoying brunch with my hubby and dog (I’m a big fan of breakfast). Or I’m out with friends having cocktails and conversation. Or I'm daydreaming over a dry cappuccino at a local Starbucks (I'm brand loyal, what can I say?).

Relevant Experience

Brilliant Bridal {Store Manager} June 2018 - June 2019

Led and coached a 10 person team, resulting in a record breaking sales month and multiple record-breaking sales days.

This is where I learned the importance of company culture and the power of communication. I believe positive teams that embrace growth will produce completely satisfied customers. And they'll make work life more pleasant!

Target {Retail Associate} August 2017 - May 2018

Responsible for processing product, merchandising inventory, giving exemplary customer service,and product knowledge within my departments. Trained new associates. Awarded "Team Member of the Month" by leadership for being an exemplary team player

I took this entry level retail job to hone my customer service skills and learn end-to-end processes. I ended up also adding visual merchandising skills and sharpening my training skills. I got so much more than I bargained for!

Bridal Boutique of Arizona {Co-creator, Manager, & Stylist}

February 2016 - May 2017

Worked alongside a co-collaborator to create an chic, upscale bridal salon. Seeing the project through from concept to reality included managing construction, hiring and training staff, analyzing trends to make inventory decisions, and connecting with other industry professionals to jump-start brand awareness.

I was very proud of this fashionable bridal salon that I helped conceive. This was a huge personal and professional project. I was thrilled when the doors opened! I hired and trained an energetic three-person team (who had previously known NOTHING about bridal, but who immediately got glowing reviews), physically oversaw the remodel of the building (including meeting contractors in the middle of the night), and personally selected many of the gowns. Although this store was eventually handed over to a new management team, I gained a lifetime of valuable experience!

Suzanne's Bridal Boutique {Marketing Director, Manager, & Stylist}

November 2008 - November 2015

Primarily responsible for the brand of this influential, local boutique. Managed and created content for all social media, advertising, printed literature, and public engagements. Attended bridal markets as part of the buying team to review new gown collections and spot trends. As a store manager I managed the day to day operations while maintaining excellent customer service.

THIS is where it all began! I earned my stripes on the sales floor of this small but very influential boutique. Seeing the value of the brand, I created a marketing position where one did not exist (this was before everyone and their mommas had a social media person!). This position would eventually take me across the country (and half way around the world!) as part of the buying team and I would learn tips, tricks, and trends from some of the biggest names in the bridal industry. This was perhaps the hardest but most rewarding job I'd had to date!

Although I could clearly rock another job in bridal, I'm smart enough to know it's not the only industry I'd be a superstar in. I welcome the challenge to work in other retail industries or to take on a more in-depth marketing gig (let's put one of those degrees to good use! Yes!). I'd also be pleased to explore an unrelated industry that could use my collection of talents.

I am a sucker for an amazing company culture (hence the hashtag...also inspired by this) and I love being valued as much as the next person. I'm secretly a techie and I dig statistics (I ALMOST became an ECON major). I'm a Type A who will throw a plan out the window as soon as it's not working (i.e., I'm flexible and open to new ideas). I'm just as happy traveling to find the perfect item for a client as I am curled up at home editing documents (probably in front of an episode of 'Madam Secretary' - in my yoga pants, of course!). As long as you're not asking me to babysit your team, I'm excited to explore work opportunities with you - or just tell you about how I ended up in law school, anyway!
